What’s So Awesome About It

The highlight of the Phi Phi Islands is the large limestone cliffs that jut out of the water and into the sky. Surrounded by the cool blue-green ocean, these islands are a must-see for anyone visiting Thailand. At the base of the limestone cliffs are colourful corals that are great spots for snorkelling.

The islands have a serene, almost laidback vibe, and it’s a place where every kind of traveller will find his/her things to do – from groups of friends to honeymooners and large families to solo travellers. Beach parties are all the rage, but you can also find some quiet time by taking a long tail boat out into the ocean and exploring the surroundings.

If you prefer to plonk down on the white sand beach and just soak up the sun, Phi Phi offers the perfect landscape for it. Additionally, it offers a host of activities and unforgettable sights that are worth a visit.

You can head to Maya Bay, with its sprawling sandy beach inside the grounds of the Phi Phi Le National Park. It is an uncommercialised area with untouched natural beauty. Next, head to Samah Bay for a rendezvous with colourful striped fishes, Pileh Cove to swim in a hidden emerald pond, Viking Cave to view mysterious cave paintings and Monkey Beach to catch sight of a colony of monkeys that inhabits the beach.

What’s The Catch

There are no demarcated roads or cars on the island, so most people get around on foot. This can make covering the whole island very tiresome, especially since it can get pretty hot in the afternoon.

Phi Phi is known as a party pad, so it can get very crowded in the prime season, resulting in littered beaches after a moonlight party. You may have to hunt for a clean, secluded section on the beaches.
