Bali vs Phuket: Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Bali is from April to September. The island experiences heavy rainfall during the months of October to March.

Although Phuket has a tropical climate, the most favourable months to visit are from November to February when there is the least amount of rain and the most sunshine.

Bali vs Phuket: Ease of Access

There are many major airlines around the world, and other parts of Indonesia, that offer flights straight to Bali. If you’re not lucky enough to get one of these flights, you will have to endure a 23-hour bus ride from Jakarta (capital of Indonesia) to Bali.

Phuket is an hour-and-a-half flight away from Bangkok. You can also take the bus from Bangkok or Phun Phin, which are 13 hours and 5 hours respectively.

Bali vs Phuket: The Beaches

Bali’s beaches are a surfer’s paradise! During the day, you will find many of the beaches on the island buzzing with surfers who are ready to ride the waves. Balangan beach on the island is said to be one of the best places to learn how to surf because of its strong reef break. For those who just want to relax and soak up the sun, there is Kuta and Pandawa Beach.

Many of Phuket’s beaches are unspoiled, quiet and picturesque; perfect for a relaxing day. The Patong Beach is a favourite of many because of its range of water activities and party scene but other beaches like Karon and Laem Singh Beach provide the tranquillity needed for guests who want to sunbathe, snorkel or go even go jet skiing.

Bali vs Phuket: Villas & Resorts

Bali and Phuket both offer gorgeous hotels and accommodations suited for honeymooners, families and solo travellers. As a world-renowned travel destination, Bali features some of the best wellness and luxury resorts in the world.

Bali vs Phuket: Adventure Activities

Bali is a hot spot for surfers from all over the world, and on the island, you will find a variety of water sports and activities including river rafting, scuba diving, snorkeling and more. If you’re looking for an adventure on the ground, the Batur Trek is the best place to find it. Mount Batur is the best place to go hiking in Bali, and the view from the top is breathtaking.

Phuket, on the other hand, is an island of adventure. Outside of the typical water activities, guests can enjoy zip lining, bungee jumping, water zorbing, ATV Riding and more!

Both islands offer cliff-jumping, hiking and camping.

Bali vs Phuket: Nightlife

Kuta, Legian and Seminyak are the heart of the partying scene in Bali. There you will find rows of nightclubs, bars and pubs buzzing with activity from the night to the wee hours of the morning.

The nightlife in Phuket is also pretty active. The bright neon streets are what get visitors out of their hotels late at night to bar hop. Bangla Road in Patong is lively, colourful and has an extensive number of nightclubs and cheap bars.

Bali vs Phuket: Island-Hopping

Bali’s surrounding small islands are also a traveller’s dream. The tiny islands that make up the Gili Islands are known to be a romantic escape; each with white sandy beaches and coconut palm trees, while islands such as Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan have miles of unspoiled beaches and cliffs.

With a tonne of scenic, small islands just a few hours away, Phuket is one of the best places to go island-hopping. Koh Phi Phi, James Bond Island and the Koh Yao Islands are the favourites within hours from Phuket.

Bali vs Phuket: Things To Do/Places To See

Bali is known for its natural and spiritual attractions that have formed the essence of the island’s culture. Visit the temples, ancient caves and museums; or if you love animals, visit the Bali Safari & Marine Park, Bali’s largest animal theme park. If you love tranquillity and wellness, Bali is definitely the place for you.

There is a range of fun things to do and explore in Phuket. Along with museums and sanctuaries across the island, you can get up close with a tiger at the Phuket Tiger Kingdom or watch the monkeys at Toh Sae Hill (Monkey Hill). If you like calmer activities, you can always visit the museums, temples or the most popular landmark in Phuket, a gleaming 45-metre Buddha statue that sits atop Nakkerd Hills.
